This has probably been beat to death, but a search did not give me a definitive answer about wire size.
I want to add a fusible link to my '60. Most info I found on the forum says my ammeter feed (black wire at the starter) is a 10 gauge and should be protected by a 14 gauge fusible link. My wiring diagrams, however say that the wire in question is a 12 gauge which would call for a smaller 16 gauge link.
So here are the questions. Is the ammeter feed a 12 or is it indeed a 10 gauge? Are the factory wiring diagrams in error?
Should a fusible link be used elsewhere for additional protection? (Horn relay or voltage regulator for instance.)
By the way of further information. My main and engine wiring harnesses are NOS GM. These are the C1 replacement harnesses which were offered in the 1980's
Thanks in advance for any information.
