I have BF Goodrich gold wall 7.75 - 15 repro tires & repro knock offs. What would the point deduction for NCRS judging be for these 2 items & should I invest in goodyear or firestone gold wall tires as those are OEM. The knock offs are too expensive to replace with kelsey hayes but the tires are do-able. Any advise anyone?

Re: 65 tires and wheels
Jim, according to my 65 JM Goodrich did not provide Goldlines on 65 Vettes, only Goodyear and Firestone did. Don't know how many points they get on tires now, but I would think that Goodrich would get you a full deduction - my car has wheel covers so I can't provide any info on your knock offs. I am sure you will be hearing from people in the know shortly.- Top

Re: 65 tires and wheels
Of the 40 available originality points for the wheels and spinners, my repro knock offs took a 28 pt deduction at a chapter meet(20 for wheels and 8 for spinners). On the non OEM tires....I would argue a 40% deduct totaling 12 pts of 30, since they are "repro tires of non-oem brand having correct size and sidewall"
So...total between wheels, spinners, and tires would be 40pts....almost 1% pt of the available 100% (disregarding the bonus pts for safety stuff, and driving bonus). I think the radial tire deduct for OEM brands of 15 is probably well worth the driveability and safety advantages. This 60% deduct would consider the four corners (.60 x 25) and not the spare. I would go with a nice bias repro in the tub.Last edited by Jim V.; July 16, 2008, 11:51 PM.- Top
