Re: C-7 corvette ?????
Nice...I think they even worked the 78-82 roofline/B Pillar into this one.
But...probably not the C7. Concepts are concepts...Some design features may make it onto the C7 (if it survives), but the production designs are usually evolutionary rather than revolutionary. I'm thinking they will think the concept car a little "hot" for general public consumption.Last edited by Chuck S.; July 16, 2008, 08:22 PM.- Top

Thanks for the link...Sounds like some cool stuff is on the horizon. BTW some of the images in the article of older engines are gorgeous. These being my two favorite GEN I small blocks.

Based on what I see here, this does not look very much like a completely new engine to me. It looks more like an updated version of the Gen III/IV small blocks. Actually, there have only been 2 completely new small blocks----the 1955 265 and the 1997 LS1. At this stage of the game, it's hard for me to imagine GM investing in a new-from-the-ground-up V-8 engine. I just don't think that V-8 engines have much of a future in a 53+ MPG CAFE world. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Maybe they're betting on lots of help from the Active Fuel Management system.......Hmmm a V4 in a Corvette!

Re: C-7 corvette ?????
as long as there are HD pickups there will be V-8 gas and diesels. you can not pull or haul a heavy load with batteries. the ford ecoboost is for the truck owners who haul mostly "air" in the beds of their trucks. ford recommend using premium gas if you are pulling or hauling a load
Yes, there will be. However, I would say that the gasoline V-8 market is going to shrink to such a degree that you won't see GM investing in a new-from-the-ground-up V-8 gasoline engine. I think that "updates" of the Gen III/IV are about all you'll see.
I do think they'll be a new V-8 diesel for trucks and that engine will "expand into" mainstream truck use.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: C-7 corvette ?????
Hi Clem. Interesting.
FWIW, when I was @ the TREMEC plant in Mexico last year, I was told that they had the C7 manual trans business and that it was a 7 speed. We'll see. They offered to show it to be, but like a dummy, I declined due to time constraints that day.Don Lowe
