    ID on Temp Sending Unit

    Can anybody identifiy what the application of this temperature sending unit is?

      Joe, Doesn't look like anyone I ever saw in a Corvette application. Weird looking thing. That's why no response. Does it have AC Made in USA on it?

        I'd say it's a GM #6402383. It's impossible to say, for sure, though. There's no way to positively ID a temp sender just from appearance and configuration. Anyway, the GM #6402383 was never used for any Chevrolet, but was used for other GM cars.

        It was discontinued in August, 1985 and replaced by GM #1513321. The latter was used for Chevrolets, including Corvette. However, the 6402383 uses a blade terminal whereas the 1513321 uses a button terminal. So, when a 1513321 is used in place of a 6402383 the harness connector must be changed.
