I've been asked to help with replacing the upper and lower mount cushions on a 72--this is uncharted ground for me, and I want to do it most easily. It looks like you have to remove the crossbolts from the mount (at least the front one) to get the old cushion out and the new one in. Is that the case? If so, are there problems with getting that front bolt back in afterward? If so, how do you align the holes? The shop manuals I have don't help with this. Thanks in advance!

Reverend, you can do this without removing the cross bolts. Remove the bolt through the cushions, use a prybar to pull the nose of the differential down. Remove and replace the lower cushion. The upper cushion can be replaced easily. Reinstall the bolt and nut and you are in business.Dick Whittington- Top
