Duntov License Plate

Try Again ! Would it be politically correct to use this plate on a car other than the one that earned it ? ? Thanks for opinions, Bill #20328

Bill, in my opinion it's doen't really matter. It's only misleading if stated by you that it is a Duntov winner. Nice looking plate. I wish the NCRS did a Top Flight Plate. All of work hard on these cars and what a nice way to show it off.

Bill: If it were me, I wouldn't put the plate on a non-Duntov car. Hang it on the wall in your garage or give it to someone whose car has earned it.

I know we can't assume, but I would assume the car the plate was on had earned the award. I have more respect for the car and the owner who has taken the car all the way to the Duntov Award. It's that PV that makes the Duntov Award so special.

I wish the NCRS did a Top Flight Plate. All of work hard on these cars and what a nice way to show it off.

Thought you might like to know - my car is a Duntov winner and for years I always had one Top Flight Badge atop my Duntov Plate. Recently I thought since you need 2 Top Flights to win the Duntov I would order a second badge to balance out my front plate. Got the new one last week and found that the new ones do not come with the metal going through it. Will now have to order another to have a match.

PS - I would not put a duntov plate on a car that had not won it.

The criteria for the Duntov award states that "The Duntov Award recognizes individuals for the restoration and preservation of 1953 -1974 Corvettes". It is a individual's award more than it is a car's award. If the Duntov Award recipent sells the car, the new owner must start the judging process over again to get another award. It seems like the previous owner should be able to do what he wants to with it.

It's about 50/50 but there doesn't seem to be a clear cut "rule". To bad the cars are gone and the memories are still very vivid. The cars have moved on for others to enjoy and as a past winner we must just have memories ONLY. Thanks to all who expressed their opion. We did the work and put in the effort to win the award more then once so we know what it takes. Bill #20328
