    Holley part# question

The Holley off my 71 LT-1 has the following numbers: 3999263-GA. LIST 6239-1. 2167. I believe this is a reissued carburetor, but could someone tell me when this was made? Any help is appreciated. Mark

The 3999263 is a 1972 LT-1 carburetor. This one is a SERVICE unit manufactured on the 216th day of 1977. The 3999263 was out-of-production by 1987, although it's possible it was a Holley "restoration" carburetor manufactured in 1987 or 1997.

        Joe,
One other question came to mind. My 71 LT-1 is a very late build date, 21082. Would GM have started using the 72 Holley on late cars like mine? Mark

I very seriously doubt it due to emission issues. However, they sure wouldn't have used a carburetor manufactured in 1977 (or, possibly, later) on a late 1971. That I can tell you for absolute certain.

I suspect that the way it got on the car was a carburetor was needed, the 1971 carburetor was, for whatever reason, unavailable and the 1972 carburetor was available.
