    Wiper arm spacer 63, etc.

    Need dimensions please on 3764098 spacer for the wiper arm rods. This spacer goes between the two rods that attach to the motor and then are held on with a spring retainer. Thanks, John D.

    John, I have never seen on of these things. I ordered one from corvette central years ago and it's a big round rubber thing that fit terribly. There is no room to install such a thing in between the brass bushings and still install the clip. I thought at one time it was part of the bushing. My 67 has never been apart and I can't find any trace of a part like this, I also can't figure out it's purpose as the mechanism works good the way it is.

      TIm. 63AIMS. sheet B22.00 W/S wiper motor, linkage, etc.
      Item #18. Or number 18 in square box. Spacer. Shows the spacer inbetween the two arms. Where the arms go on the wiper motor shaft.
      My 63 is missing this part. Not long ago the click flew off and the arm came off the motor. We put it back on with a new clip and it made it thru ops at Seven Springs. I was told the spacer has to be on or I will have the same problem again. I don't know much about 67's Barely know 63's. Does your 67 aims show it? John D.

        That fibrous/hard rubber spacer was on all midyear wiper linkage arm-to-motor shaft connections; if left off, the full-tubular portion of both link arms where they thicken just past the bushing will interfere with each other twice each motor revolution, causing a "clunk" noise each time they hit. The spacer is just thick enough to separate the ends of the arms so that doesn't occur.

          John D.;

          You mean you have used your wipers this year already?

          Seriously; Is this something you can see from under the dash? or where are you observing this spacer? It's been awhile since I have "gone under", but I believe I saw the linkage last time I had the radio out.

          p.s. I ran mine once last year - probably first time in 20 years. I know, I know for P.E.

            Pretty sure I have one of those spacers, somewhere, but I thought it was metal?? Looked a little like an exhaust manifold bolt washer?

              If someone can post a good picture of this part I would appreciate it. On my 63, the bushings come together and there is just enough room for the clip slot at the end, the wiper arms don't make any noise when used. Is there a chance this part is still available from GM?

              John, yes the 67 AIM shows the spacer also. I will have to take a closer look but I can't recall seeing this part on the car.

                John, My wipers make that noise. I wasn't sure ifi the spacer was hard rubber or metal. I just got an email that said it was hard rubber also.
                Thanks for your reply. John D.

                P.S. Anyone have a spare original?

                  Mikey, I thought it was metal until this morning. Now I learn it is hard rubber. Seems logical for it to be rubber though to cut down on the noise.

                  Bet RJ has a ton of them. 37654098 spacer. Cut loose with one RJ and send it to SW corner of PA. Thanks, John D.
