    Engine harness to TI harness

I'll apologize in advance if this posts gets crazy. I'm the one a couple of weeks ago who had to install a regular points distributor to get my rebuilt engine fired and broken in (67 L71). There's an electrical problem somewhere in the amp or wiring. With the fresh engine in and running, I set out today to find my problem so I could return the original distributor and reconnect the amp. I already had a new engine wiring harness and TI harness on hand just in case. I've been down this road before. Coming thru the firewall with the wiper motor leads is a 12 gauge orange with an after market spade on it and also a 12 gauge red with the factory black plastic connector. The orange has continuity to all leads from the ignition switch and the red has continuity with the purple at the same switch. What I've been trying to figure out is how to add the TI harness into the engine harness I bought. I'm sure of the TI black and white both to original coil, and the connector to distributor. Where does the other white resistor wire w/clip go to the engine harness? Also, where does the other pink wire w/clip meet up with the eng. harness? I think I know but am not 100% sure because the new engine harness is slightly different than what's in my car. The new one has the purple wire w/clip as mine does. A black ground w/clip to the heater as mine. Two pink ones connected together assumedly to a points style coil whereas mine on the car only has 1 - 18 gauge pink w/clip. The new one also has another 12 gauge pink? WIth all of that confusingly said, can anyone guide me as to how to proceed? The existing orange and red wires from the instrument main harness aren't helping my understanding. I do have 2 new clips to install to make all of this happen. I'm just not sure what goes to what. And the TI harness shown in the assembly manual leaves a bit to be desired.

      Tom,

The plug that goes to the distributor is self explanitory. The white resistor wire goes to the pink 12v run wire coming from the ignition switch. The coil wires are self explanitory and there is a wire that comes from your TI harness distributor plug that goes to a wire coming from the starter solenoid. This wire gives the amplifier a full 12v while cranking the engine to start.

There is a ground wire at the amplifier end, be certain it gets a good ground. Let us know how it runs.
