AIM No Tell-Unmolested 1965 (or Any Midyear) Convertible

I'd like to know if the "fasteners" (4841194) shown in AIM, UPC 1, Doors, K12, were plastic or metal. If they are plastic, are the heads flat, or do they have a mold seam bisecting the head.

Also, AIM UPC 1, ASM, F15, shows only 2 screws (3418711) into convertible weatherstrip 3880407-8 and coupe 3880403-4. The TIM&JG talks of 4 screws retaining this on a convertible, and 4 screws and a pop rivet retaining on a coupe.
    Thanks in advance.

    Joe:

I was just looking at the AIM section on the pillar W/S and also noticed that it only calls out 2 screws for a roadster. My '65 car, which had the original weatherstrip, used 2 screws (outboard) and 2 plastic push-ins (not shown in the AIM).

Interestingly, the CRC weatherstrip doesn't provide holes for the push-ins. Perhaps other years varied.

      Thanks Mike,

Here are a few shots of what I have (repops):

My CRC door pillar weatherstrips (about 4 years old, now) have three holes toward the outboard end.

Do the "dogleg" or "L" shaped weatherstrips use 4 plastic "push-ins" that appear to be the same as the 2 inboard "push-ins" holding your door pillar weatherstrips?
Do those 2 "outboard" screws that you describe have integral shoulder washers, or are they plain oval head Phillips?
Sorry for all the questions......but the AIM is useless, and the "parts houses" seem to sell different combinations, none of which are necessarily the same.
You can see 2 different type of plastic "push-ins" that came with the doglegs. Which looks more correct?

Only 2 things that I can ascertain, with relative certainty:
      1. 1966 coupes did NOT use the short upper windshield pillar "return" section as did 1963-65, 67 coupes.
      2. On the "doglegs", 1967 models used 4 METAL "push-ins" instead of the plastic ones used on all 1963-1966 coupes/convertibles.

My late June build 66 Roadster has 2 plastic on the passenger side and 2 metal buttons on the drivers side.
