    Original Conv. Windshield Molding Clips

I have discovered that the repo windshield molding clips available are not very good in form or more importantly function.
Does anyone know of source for original clips? I think the original part number was 3843938??
    Thanks, Tom in Ohio (42996)

    Tom -

Many have had good results with the reveal molding clips from Paragon; some of the other vendors sell clips from Taiwan, which don't work very well.

I bought the reproductions from LI Corvette for my 63. They did not work. The body shop ended up cleaning and reusing the old clips.

The original windshield moulding clips were # 3843939. These clips had only one step that the moulding had to go over to latch and it had a smooth ramp to help the molding slide into its latched position.
The service replacement clips were #3904931. These clips have two steps to get the moulding over in order to latch. These are the type that are advertised as NOS and all the repros that I know of copied this clip. These are a pain it the you know what. It's another example of coping the wrong part. Gave one of my originals to someone last year who was going to look into making a correct clip. Haven't heard any responce on this. I don't see how the assemble line could have ever used the #3904931. They would still be trying to get the moulings on midyears as we speak. The #3904931 clips are why you see so many cars that the moulding is not latched in the proper position or full of dents.

I got mine from Paragon. Paragon sells good ones with a gasket around the screw hole and the cheap generic import. I used the more expensive and had no trouble when we put the molding back on at a chapter Nuts & Bolts. I ordered these clips from three or four different venders trying to find the ones closest to the originals and they were all the same as the cheap imports from Paragon.
Use 11044K (USA) and avoid 1151 ( import)

Thanks for all the help guys! Just got off the phone with Paragon and 11 of the USA clips are on the way!
You wouldn't think correct function molding clips could be this tuff to manufacture but at least I'm not alone.
