    68-75 Convertible deck lid Wedges

    Hello,
I've a question about Deck lid Brass plate and the plastic wedges on the body. My 1970 didn't have these when I got hold of it 20 years ago. My 1970 AIM shows the parts on K97 Sheet F5. The part I'm referring to are # 4426757 Wedge, and K98 Sheet F6 part # 4523880 plate.

Now I've only sampled a few post 1970 convertibles, and have not seen these parts on any of them. The Vendor catalogs seem to suggest that the were only used on pre-1970 convertibles.

So my question to those who know, did the 1970 later convertibles use the brass plate and plastic wedge on the deck lid and body? Or was this for the 68 and 69 models only?

The photo below was on a 69

Don't remember when the change was made, but later models have a guide pin and nylon or plastic bushing, similar to the front top mounts.

73-75 had the pins not the part in the picture.

I do not think that convertibles after 1969 had the rear lid wedges (even though the AIM's through 1971 indicate they do). For one thing, they are completely superfluous with the addition of the pin/receiver system added for 1970-75 . For another thing, the wedges might interfere with the ability of the pin/receivers to "self-align".

I can't swear they're original to my car, but my May built 70, VIN 9753, has got 'em.

I'm sure they're original; I seriously doubt that anyone would add these. It may be that it took them awhile to find out that they were not needed.
