    Holley 3247 Questions

I have a '66 427-425HP and the (3247)carb has been rebuilt recently and now reinstalled on the car.
The engine on a cold start (air temp about 65-70 deg F.) requires constant pumping of the throttle for at least the first 1-2 minutes or it stalls. After say 2-3 minutes it idles great at 800-850RPMs. The choke is closed prior to the initial cold start, but opens slightly at start due to air intake, I guess. The timing is at about 12 deg., checked with ported vacuum plugged, and the vacuum gauge connected to full vacuum. It remains steady around 14 in HG., when idle is at 800 RPM. The RPM on cold idle is at about 1150 RPMs.
The only problem I have occassionally is that even after warmup, I can get a small pop thru the carb on quick acceleration (plus a slight hesitation) This pop can also happen with the air breather off and simply and quickly, revvinng the engine up (sparkplugs are new also) It sounds a bit lean to me ?? How do I "richen" it up? When rebuilt, they installed the correct primary and secondary factory jet sizes I was told, as the previous jets were smaller as the car came from the Denver area. (now in southern Ontario).

Thanks for any of your thoughts

the choke pull off needs reset to get the engine to run correctly right after start up. sounds like yours is opening too far. the after warm up "pop" could be caused by the incorrect power valve.
