    Spark Plug Wire order

I notice in the 67 AIM 6 B-3, there is a callout of the plug wires in the grommet on the passenger side, outboard to inboard 4 2 6 8. However on the driver side the diagram is confusing with no order call out.

Is there a similar order of placement in the grommet, outboard to inboard, or am I splitting hairs here.

Jerry -- I've shared your pain. I'm sure my '65 AIM UPC 6, Sht B3 is as poor quality a drawing as your '67, and likely the same.

Here's the grommet (dwg. item 10, 3 needed) with the raised letters and plug wire numbers. I don't know whether this was factory during C2 era, but they are sure helpful.

For the passenger side they agree with the AIM (ie. 4, 2, 6, 8 - outboard to in). Notice that the distrib cap terminals that they connect to would need to be a reverse-rotation distrib. to result in the correct firing order .

The driver side sketch is a nightmare -- very difficult to follow the wiring from plugs to distr. cap terminal, because drawing ink disappears at crucial cross-overs. But using grommet pic as a map, the order, outboard to in, is 7, 3, 1, 5. Working backwards, I can see how this sorrt-of matches the AIM drawing and distr. terminals.

To act as a guide, the grommet(s) on passenger side should be inserted in the bracket with the top of the "R" facing the firewall. And the driver's grommet should insert with the "L" facing the radiator. Real easy huh ?

      Great Information here

      Thanks, Wayne

Didn't realize they had the numbers on the grommets. Have to take a close look at my originals on the car.
