    60 Fuel Injection Unit

Does anybody know why the ribs were removed from the 1960 fuel injection unit?

Speculation is that it allowed the plenum volume to be increased to aid the airflow into the engine for the (stillborn) 315HP setup with the better airflow from the new heads.

Roger, Actually three out of four '60 units still had the ribs. The '7300, 7200 and 7250 units still had the ribs.
Then of course the 7320 unit was a smooth top. Never read anywhere as to exactly why this change was made though. Maybe just cosmetic and maybe not. A smooth top plenum would be easier to produce than a ribbed one. Who knows. John D.
