Re: 1960 fender reinforcement
Yes, they are well worth the time and investment. I have had my 59 judged at a regional and recieved no point deducts. In you lean or push on the fender of one with and then one without the reinforcement beams, there is a noticeable difference in the strength.- Top

Re: 1960 fender reinforcement
I thought what Michael was referring to are the steel angle iron items attached with the fender spear hardware - common to 1958 Corvettes to strenghten the front fenders. Am I confused again?

1960 fender reinforcement
Yes, available through vendors. They are original to your car only if they are designated in your AIM. IIRC, they were a '58 only item. However, not a bad idea on 58/62 since they work and can be easily removed (if one only uses spear mounting studs)... Dennis- Top

Re: 1960 fender reinforcement
They were a 58 item and wibbited (flat head) on to the under fenders, hidden by the top ss, some body shops added them when doing fender repairs on later Corvettes. But this is my 2 cents only- Top

1960 fender reinforcement
Hey Roy, Thanks for that additional wibbiting info. My late '58 did not have the reinforcements, so I've never really inspected the method of attachment. Your explanation is appreciated and makes sense. Dennis- Top
