For judging purposes does it make any difference what the numbers are for these on the inside. Most I have seen have GW 552504 but have different other numbers like 392505, 392605. Mine have a 2 79--does that mean they were made in Feb 1979? What are the correct numbers for a 1971 and does it matter for judging. Thank you.

The number "GW 552504" is some sort of manufacturer's code for the ORNAMENT section of the center caps. These caps, including ornaments, were almost certainly manufactured by some outside supplier to GM. The "GW" gives a clue as to what the name of the company likely was, but I don't know what it represents. The "552504" was probably a model number. I have seen it on 68-72 ornaments and it may also have been used on later; I don't know.
The number 3925805 is the GM PART NUMBER for the ornament section of the cover. The same part number was used from 1968 through 1982. I have never seen numbers "392505" or "392605" and I don't think I ever will.
I don't know what the "2 79" refers to. It may be a date code, but I've not noted date codes on these parts, although it's very possible some had them.
As far as I know, it is not required that the hub covers be removed for judging. In any event, I doubt that dates on the ornaments are judged even if the hub covers are removed.In Appreciation of John Hinckley -

2 have: 3925805 2 X GW 552504 HB CANADA
2 have: 3925805 X GW 552504 HB CANADA 1

Paul, The rally wheel center caps are not removed for judging so it will not matter what is on the inside, as long as they appear original on the outside.
