1961 convertible top

I'm about to have top installed, and my question is; should there be a headliner? When I looked at Al Knoch description there is no mention of a headliner, but in the judging guide it says the top had a headliner.

No headliner in convertible. You must have been reading about a hardtop.

No headliner, but there are a number of pads that are used between the top and the bows.

I appreciate the responces, and that is how I remembered, but on page 22 of the judging guide in the last paragraph it says "the interior of soft top used a black headliner ". That is what I'm questioning.

That is a reference to the underside of the top, indicating it should be black, as opposed to any other color in the spectrum.
