Leather or Vinyl?

An interesting issue came up in another forum. Is the dash material in a deluxe interior C3 leather like the seats and vinyl with the standard package or are all dash panels vinyl covered?

On C3 deluxe interiors OR standard interiors with leather seats, the dash pads, forward center console (if padded), and the door panels are VINYL. Never, ever leather. If someone says they were leather, they're nuts. Period.

Always vinyl. I wish my 77 and 78 were leather.

If one wants leather trim on the dash and door panels, one needs to consider something like a Rolls-Royce or Bentley. I don't think that Corvettes ever used leather on door panels or dash pads. In fact, in later years I think even the leather on the seats was generally limited to "seating surfaces".
