    I think your idea for using Route 66 for part of the Road Tour is excellent. There are some absolutely excellent stretches in Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma and Arizona that I would highly recommend. The stretch from Seligman through Oatman AZ is exceptional. It is awful nice to get off of the interstate and enjoy a slightly slower pace with much less traffic.

        Mike,

        What a great accomplishment and experience for you and your son. Your blog is awesome and I can only hope to make the same trip someday.

          Love your tagline. Hope you don't mind if I borrow that without attribution!

                Don't be jealous... just do it! And be sure to save the wave.

                    Don - No hurry, just do it! If it's not Route 66, then do it on any highway... preferably 2 lane with lots of curves. Let's get those mid-years out there on the road. It is amazing how they inspire people.

                    Cheers

                      Glad to see someone that isn't afraid to drive (or sit on) their vette. I caught hell when I posted this...

                        Bill;

                        I too drive mine quite a lot, but sit on it! No. Mine is dark blue and I take pride in it's appearance. The dark color shows every little smudge, small scratch, etc. Try as I may, I can never keep up with them all - specially when I go to a public forum such as our local cruise ins. Most people are respectful, but families with small kids think they are at some playground. I always have a bunch of finger prints and smudges to clean off. And again, it wouldn't be so bad except the dark color shows all. I have had people sit on the rear deck on a blanket, but that's as far as I will go.

                          Bill,

                          I sit on mine to hide all the chips and spots and etc. from driving it!

                            I'm not big enough to hide all the chips and spots on mine! So I just keep driving.

                            PS - For the benefit of the TDB, I kept my shirt on!!!!
                            PSS - The picture was taken on our return from California at Glenwood Canyon in Colorado. What a beautiful part of the US.
