For upcoming judging would like to find a new/used/rebuildable core Delco Freedom Battery series 75-500 for my 86. Anyone know of a potential source?

1) New (i.e NOS)---not likely; these batteries were supplied WET. So, if there were any NOS examples around, they'd likely be long gone by now even if they were still "in the box";

2) Used----they would not be serviceable by now;

3) Rebuildable----I know of no way these batteries could be rebuilt;

4) Reproduction----not currently reproduced.

Norman, I tried for years to find one for my May 83 car. Highly unlikely you will every find the correct one. The green eye is not in a typical location either on the original. Look in the Judging guide and also in the 84 literature and you will see a pic of the original battery.
Forget it and just buy a nice new Delco battery and at least get 50% credit. I wrote an article on changing those batteries long time ago for our local chapter. Pain in the butt for sure. I believe the case was white with a black top.
I do know though of a MD Doc who kept the real deal from his 03 that won't start.

Joe, Jim Kane of Cameron Battery rebuilds old batteries. Rick Ashire just had him do a fake tar top for the "Lady. I do believe Dr. Ed Gurdjian (sp) may be involved with the project but I am not sure. Jim is in Emporium, PA.

Thanks for the response, John. I called Jim Kane (nice guy) who said he could rebuild one if he had the core. Believe it or not, he has a '78' series on hand with the correct label but no '75'. I'd call that close but no cigar!
Know where can I obtain a picture of the top of this battery?
Any idea?

Thank, Joe. You're right on all counts. But, I'll keep looking and hoping!! My local battery rebuilder says he can rebuild if I can find a core.
