    1955 Corvette bike

Just had my 1955 Corvette restored to original , 55 was the first year (Suhwinn) made a bike called a Corvette.
Original numbered and correct original parts of Suhwinn bikes of the C1 and C2 time slot can bring over 2K and more!

Roy, I have a friend that has one (un-restored) that is collecting dust and he has offered it to me but I have no idea what to offer him..............he'll probably take as little as $50. How many years did they make them and where are the numbers?

            Roy,

The 55 Schwinn bike will be a lot better for you than that old 55 Corvette. It will provide lots of healthful exercise and cardio that the car won't. So, how much for the old car you won't be needing now?

C1's up to 62 later C2's were called sting rays , $50 grab it because original fair condition go for 2-or $300.00 .
The serial number is on the rear sprocket hub and each is dated and serial numbered like the real Corvette.

Bob you don't wont my 55 it's not NCRS quality having wire wheels and bubble top , you'll loose points and it's a driven Corvette not a trailer queen . They may not even let you license it in Virginia

I have seen pictures of Roy's car and some of the on lookers it has drawn. If you are healthy enough for it, the on lookers I saw with the car, may offer better exercise and cardio care than the bike. Unless your wife is jealous, that is.

Actually, a good Vette helps the heart a lot. I know with mine I can push my heart rate up over 100 bpm easily, and I have a hard time doing that on my tead mill (course a lot of that is due to my Beta Blocker and Ace Inhibitor).

Those bikes all came w/3.08's, I think. They will give you a work out, unlike the new 10 speeds.

Hey guys Schwinn still make a Corvette bike it looks the same as the originals its only $200 plus and is a brand newy. I think the colour they are selling at the moment is metallic blue. I will post a picture of it when I work out how to send a photo. Stewy

There is an antique shop in Dixboro, Michigan ( just outside Ann Arbor ) and the owner specializes in vintage bikes. I believe he even repos some things for the Schwinn Corvettes.

You might google Dixboro antiques if interested.

The owner also owns a big car collection. His mother is a famous button collector.

He recently sent 30 of his best bikes to Vegas for a show.

PS..a friend of mines father was the lead designer in the 50's and 60's at Schwinn who was also responsible for the Orange Crate...and the banana seat craze.

                          Ha!
