Re: Convention Road Trip - How to Keep Seats Cool?
Charlie, do I have a deal for you!!. I have a 35KW diesel powered generator set on wheels. It is powered by a 75 hp Ford Industrial diesel. I will put a new set of tires on the dolly and sell it to you for the measly sum of $3,500.00 including tax, title, document fees, handling charges, reasonable mark up, etc.Dick Whittington- Top

Re: Convention Road Trip - How to Keep Seats Cool?
Stu,
The vents in the picture are for my Vintage Air A/C system. Works just great if you have the top up, windows closed, and no side vents open.
Makes my 67 non-AC car driveable in the summer. And if it weren't for the AC vents you wouldn't know it was there from the interior.
But if you want to go top down, or with vents or windows open, the fan, cool seats, and water spray is the way to go in the summer.Jerry Fuccillo

Re: Convention Road Trip - How to Keep Seats Cool?
Jerry;
Is it possible to do like we used to do up north in the cool weather, i.e. go with the top down and the heater on, only in reverse; top down and A/C on? Probably inefficient as heck.

Re: Convention Road Trip - How to Keep Seats Cool?
Hello Gary;
Let me ad my 2 cents.
This actually works. Learned from my friends in Phoenix. Now that's hot.
Cooler within reach full of ice cubes.
64 oz cup full ice placed between legs.
Drink the water as it melts.
Sounds funny, but it works, along with sitting on a folded beach towel.
Hope you have fun.

I hope you dance

Re: Convention Road Trip - How to Keep Seats Cool?
Stu,
We used to do that in cold weather, top down with a little heat at the feet, many years ago in NY, and in N. Cal for the the last 38.
But even with factory AC, it doesn't work the opposite way. The AC systems are designed for total recirculation and very limited outside air to run with any efficiency.
I'm so glad I put in the Vintage AC system on my 67. Makes the car driveable during the spring and summer out here in N. Cal. Where I live, top down weather is like early spring or late fall.
I remember driving back and forth, N.Cal to Flagstaff cool as a cucumber and achieving Top Flight at the same time.
Since Joe C. apparently got busted NCRS style, Here is a picture of him, just after receiving an NCRS award:
I think we were getting a little bit off topic here, Joe and Stu.
Let's just have some fun.Jerry Fuccillo

Hi Dick,
Just rereading the thread, and I notice that you "beat me to the punch" here. Apparently we were both thinking about window air conditioners and Swamp Coolers. Hadn't realized that you had already posted on same 2 "solutions".
Scary thought........the fact that we might think alike!
My only consolation, is that you thought about it quicker.
Thank God, there might be hope for me!
