1966 427 a/c car lower control arm bumper spacers usage?

Can anyone comment on this one? 1966 427 big block cars with air conditioning show a spacer located under the lower control arm frame bumper, also shows longer bolts to go with. Any info on when these were or were not used is appreciated. Also were they and bolts painted with the arm as a unit or added on the line and left unfinished as supplied? There are currently some vendors offering these parts and indicate they are on only early cars. Thanks in advance for any shared experience on these!

The thick spacer, bolts and nuts used only on L-36 with A/C are shown in the '66 Assembly Manual in section C60, Sheet B4; they were installed at St. Louis.

      John,
Yes thats the way I saw it, just wondering what actual real usage was and for how long as its refered to as early 66 usage by vendors and I do not have a lot of personal knowledge on these at all. Were they painted? Plated hardware? Headmarkings? How about a reason for there usage in the first place? Seems to me I have seen these installed on later cars also specifacally c-3's. Probably worked on a hundred or so and they seem familiar, never paid attention then I guess.

The only reason for them would be to reduce front suspension jounce travel, which would be by 1.6 times the thickness of the spacer; possibly they were concerned about oil pan-to-ground clearance in jounce due to the added weight of the A/C system.
