I want to switch from bias ply to radial (gold lines) for my '65 fuelie. I have seen the Coker and Diamondback web sites - any issues with either?

Re: Correct Tires
Your gold line radial options are pretty limited....basically...Coker Classic radial or DiamondBack. You will hear and read both good and bad about both. Yesterday I was speaking with the Coker rep at Bloomington Gold, and asked him why they don't make the Goodrich Radial in a Goldline and his response was, "not enough demand". Call em....bug em!
My short take on the two existing options is...Coker classics are made in Mexico and have a very unusualy pie slice construction. The goldline color looks ok. Coker owns the molds and contracts out their production. Diamondback is a tire customizer so to speak. They APPLY a red or white or gold strip to just about any production tire you like. The good news is your buy a REAL mass produced radial and have them stripe it. The bad news is there is some debate on the techniques durability and quality control.
At any rate....some vendor has to get the message that there is a real demand for goldline radials....especially if they were OE branded...aka Goodyear, Firestone, Goodrich, General....

Re: Correct Tires
This has been discussed frequently over the last few years. Search the archives for details.
My understanding is that the people who purchase Diamondbacks are much happier with their choice. The tires seem to drive better.
The Coker radial tires seem to generate more complaints or user dissatisfaction.

Re: Correct Tires
The Coker Classic radial goldlines are actually "orange-lines"; I don't think they've made any effort to correct the color. I know three people who have ordered them, and all three sent them back for that reason. They're made in old segmented Michelin molds, which is why they have the "pie-slice" appearance.- Top

Re: Correct Tires
Helo Mr D. As you are well aware, upper NJ corvette owners utilize the latest rubber tech. Since you are below the dual doppler screen and being as tall as I remember you might try a combination of the limited production MMR N 50S WITH A SET OF XTRS! After a few laps perhaps you will understand that once a new driver joins your team the rules as well as the salary must be altered. This weekend I am leaving for West Virginia to pick up my boys Weinermobile Pedal Car.- Top
