    C-1 Wiper Motor

I have a 62 wiper motor that was restored a while ago and it only operstes on one speed. Cosmetically it's great with all the proper plating etc. When I removed the switch cover I noticed a small (1/2") wire wound ceramic core resister that's broken clean in two. I'm assuming that's the reason for only one speed and want to repair it. My question is can I buy this resistor and if so where? If not I asume my only choice is to send it out. Any recommendations? Resistors are pretty much generic items (so parts supplied by various suppliers will substitute and serve the same application). The part's resistance value is typically indicated by a number of color bands on one end of the resistor (significant digits, multiplier, and tolerance).

Power dissipation dictates the physical size of the resistor body (diameter and length). So, with that information in hand, you can shop for a replacement at, say, Radio Shack....

Wire wound resistors are typically used in higher power dissipation applications (vs. carbon filled components) and high precision applications.

If you can find a 55 up 12V switch from some chevy and replace your or fix your's if it's only one end connection broken.

        Roy,
I think if you read carefully that he is talking about the wiper motor itself, not the wiper motor control that you show in your picture. He's talking about the resistor underneath the plate on the wiper motor that the plastic actuator rides in.

Roys picture appears to be a heater control switch.

My mistake (wiper motor) not the switch
