    Mecum Live Auction Results....Wow '57 #001 $9mil+

    Just checked the results, noting 55,56,57 #001's. See for yourself.

    57 #001 http://tinyurl.com/5bvcyw
    sold for $9.05 million, add the 12% buyers commission($1.08 million), ballpark math apx $10,130,000.00! Anyone know who shelled it out?

    Likely bought the 55 & 56 too I'd bet.

    Richard;

    Thanks for the posting. Very interesting. It appears that the 55 and 56 did not sell (closed at_____), so apparently the reserves were quite high. It seems a lot of cars are not bringing their reserves lately at the auctions. could be a sign of the economy slow down.

      Stu, I think they definitely sold. I had them set as a watch in my ebay stuff. I recall the reserves on all 3 were $250k.

        If you look at the bidding on e-bay, it appears the '57 jumped from $800,000 to above 9 million in one step. Can someone explain that please?

        Thanks

          Richard;

          OK. I guess I was confusing Auction Speak with E-Bay. I don't watch E-Bay all that much, but have found the Auctions on HDTV very entertaining as you can see a lot of clear detail. The Speed Channel boys for the Barrett Jackson Auctions are very knowledgeable, but the Discovery Channel guys with the Mecom Auctions don't know squat! It is very frustrating. You find yourself yelling at your TV; NO DUMMY!! That's not right!

            9 million is wrong!! Look at the mecumn web site

            Go to the mecumn web site and you will see the high bid on the 57 is $950,000, That is thousand and not in the million,s. The web site also shows how many cars went through the auction and did not sell. I think the # of sold cars was low.

              At the mecumn site all 3 cars are not sold!!

              After looking at the site all three cars are listed as NOT SOLD. The prices listed on ebay are the high bids the cars are still for sale.

                Went there before my post to verify but had to register/login to view results.....NOT!
                I hate that. They use the info to send you junkmail and crap for everything.

                So it must've been a typo on the ebay result. Makes more sense now.

                Thanks,
                Rich

                  Would be VERY surprised if the $9 million bid closes. More like someone playing with ebabes.

                    Richard, I am like you. I don't like to register for stuff just so that they can send me more stuff. I did however register, looked at the prices of the cars sold and high bids and then unsubscribed. It's easy to do and you still get to see what you want.

                    My 2 cents
