1964 Master cylinder and Power booster #'s

    Hello All,

Can anyone tell me the correct part #'s for the master cylinder and the power booster for my 64. I see some boosters for sale with # 4311 but the judging book says 4310.

The power brake master cylinder for 1964 was GM casting #5464264. I don't know why the discrepancy on the booster numbers.

Hi, have an original Mar 64 booster, has '4311' stamped at 10:00 and '296' at 4:00. '296' is the Julian date, so that will change, but 4311 is only number I've seen on 64's, not sure where the 4310 may fit in?

Drove the 64 over 5000 miles to three Regionals and the San Jose National, one dust storm and 40 lbs of bugs!

        David,

The 4310 number was never a valid booster number, for any year. It's part of the Delco part number for a power brake/master cylinder assembly, 5464310.

As others have mentioned, 4311 is the only correct tab number for 64.

This information has already been forwarded to NCRS/Carlton.

The Judging manual that I recieved about a month ago lists the 64 power brake booster #'s on pg 123 as 4310 and 4702. I would like clarification.

          Thank You

Yes, the 4th edition was half correct. It showed a 4310 and 4311. The 4311 was correct. The 4310 was not.

The 4310 and 4702 in the 5th edition are both incorrect.

The 4311 is the only correct tab number for 64.

I can't find any documentation at all on a 4702 tab number. Not sure where that number came from.

Can you tell me how to decode the Julian date for 64?

David, I believe the Julian date was a straight running number of the day for one year, 0 to 365. You must figure out which year it refers to on the part, thus 296 = Sept/Oct of 63 for mfr of the booster. Hope this is correct, somewhere I have a manual that pins it down better.
