Location of '66 427 side emblems

    Hello all,
I've been through the archives and nothing is jumping out at me. The body on my '66 BB restoration is nearing completion and I want to make sure that the emblems are positioned correctly (the hood surround has been replaced, so there are no old holes to go by). I've been to a few cruise nights and shows where I thought I might be able to sneak a measurement, but the Midyear BBs have been AWOL. Could someone with a '66 427 (or '65 396) be so kind as to provide measurements from the belt line to the bottom of the emblem as well as the distance from the door to the emblem? I've acquired measurements for the other badges. Much thanks.
    Cheers!
    Jeff

They go in the same locating holes as the small block emblems that might be on the surround that it replaced.

Thanks for the info, but unfortunately, the old surround is long gone (the car was in a shop fire - long story...), so I don't have the luxury of using it as a template.

According to some old notes I had made, the location of the holes for mounting the 427 side fender emblems on a '66 are as follows:
The lower (single) hole is located 1" above the belt line and 13 3/4" from the back of the fender (at door seam). Measure the 13 3/4" along a line parallel to and 1" above the belt line.
The upper two holes are located along a line that is 1 1/4" above the lower hole (or 2 1/4" above the belt line). The rear hole is 12 3/4" from the back of the fender and the front hole is 1 7/8" ahead of the rear hole. Again these measurements are taken from the rear of the fender, along a line that is parallel to and 2 1/4" above the belt line.
Hope this helps. Just to make sure, maybe lay some blue painters tape on the fender, mark these locations and make sure the emblem pegs match up to the projected hole locations.

          Jerry,
Quite exacting! Thanks for the response.
