    C1 Hub cap spinner judging

Can anyone advise if the "American made" GM license reproduction spinners will pass NCRS judging vs. rechromed originals on my 59? I heard judges look for raised edges on them and the less expensive imported ones may be missing that... Or say I rechrome my originals; would that be better or worse?

    thanks for your expertise!

Ian, on the 56-7 spinners Corvette Central puts their logo on the inside of the flanges and the Judges can see that with a mirror. Original spinners have a beveled center line edge. Hope this helps. Gary....

      Ian,
Most of the replated originals that I have seen tend to lose the subtle details of the original chrome because the platers seem to plate them too heavy. Someone might be able to recommend a plater that does a nice job.

        Ian,

Replating original spinners is very expensive and risky that the plater will destroy some of the key features. If you want to try this option, Paul's Chrome Plating in PA is your best bet, but they're expensive. I would go with US made repros and take the one point deduction.

        Good luck.

          Ian,

For those who may wonder about the "edge" on the spinner, here is a pic. You can gently polish your existing spinners and put paint back in the lettering unless they are in really bad shape.

Mine are really pitted so I'm debating what to do. I like keeping it original wherever possible... Thanks for the info folks.
