    Krylon 1613 Spray paint

This may be old news to some but for what it is worth: I was finishing some parts this week for my '66 and ran out of Krylon 1613. Went to Wally World, which is typically the cheapest. Now Krylon does not call it Semi-Flat 1613 rather Satin 51613. I got two cans and tested and I thought the satin was much glossier. I've checked 6 or 8 places around my area and all have the Satin. I checked the Archives and there was numerious discussions and opinions regarding the use of SEM Trim Black and John Deere Blitz Black. I guess the new satin will work someplaces but don't expect it to match the old Semi-Flat. My 2 cents worth. Thank You

    Don,
Do a search of the archives, this has been talked about extensively over the past month.

      Don,
Yes there was quite alot of discussion on this a few weeks ago. I went to 6-7 stores right after it came up and only found 3 cans of 1613. It did come up that 1613 will still be available from industrial supply stores as it is still being manufactured for commercial/industrial usage. I haven't tried Graingers yet but I would think they will carry it.
      Best Regards,

Thanks everyone. I was on vacation a few weeks ago and missed the posts on this subject. I've gone into the archives but maybe it hasn't hit the archives yet. I've tried everywhere in this small town that sells Krylon and no luck. I called about John Deere Blitz Black and they even tell me that has changed names to Medium Gloss P/N TY25638. Thanks again.

            Hi Robert,
I did find 1 can at my local Ace Hardware, but they were changing out to the newer version 51613 that day. They only had the one can left of 1613.

I'm the culprit who started that discussion on May 27. See if this gets you there:

              Good luck,

Grainger Supply $4.69 a can. 1613 was lacquer 51613 is enamel based Dont mix!! NAPA had some also but $6 a pop. What can I say, I am cheap - Looking into a source for $1.75 a can.

Go on the web and type in Traver's Tool. They have the 1613 and typically sell it six pack style. It's the real deal except for this. I bought 6 cans and I swear the 1613 takes longer to dry than before. It could just be me though. It's the same satin black as always. Less then 4 buks a can. John D.

I missed you at Seven Springs. If I knew you were coming I could have sold you a slightly used can for 1.75. But u were MIA Jimmy. JD
