C1 Rough start

When my 60 sits for about one week. IT starts up great after a couple of pumps of the pedal... runs fine for usually less than a minute then runs really rough, and ultimately stalls. I get some puffs of smoke out the exhaust as I start it up again. Yesterday was the third time in three weeks this happened.. Like the last time I gave it enough pedal not to stall starting driving and the car ran great once it gets warm. Wont stall idles quietly and smooth, runs well, no smoke..

Any suggestions on what to look at?

The first thing I would do is check the choke adjustment. It sounds like it may be set too rich. Also it should go into fast idle when choke is on to compensate for low air volume with choke plate closed. Make sure the choke plate is set to spec when cold and the linkage for the fast idle cam moves smoothly and sets the idle screw on the fast idle portion of cam. Rich

Also check the choke unloader adjustment on the linkage - the choke blade closes fully for starting, but has to open slightly after starting to admit enough air to keep it running.
