454 coolant drain plug - need suggestions

I have removed the passenger side coolant drain plug successfully on my 70 454 but cannot get a socket on the drivers side plug. The motor mount is in the way. Is it necessary to removed the mount to get to the plug? If so, what the best way to safely support the engine when removing the mount and coolant plug?

    Thanks,

    Jordan

Jordan I would use a 2X10 section of wood to support under the oil pan and raise only enough to allow removal of the mount, you don't want to destroy the other mount. If there are any houses being built in your area, check the scrap wood pile, you might find a 2X10 piece.
