Has anyone recently had their chrome done on their 60 corvettes. Can you give me an idea on cost and turnaround and vendor name? I have nice solid cores. The bumpers will be the expensive ones. Also, these reproduction grill assemblies; US or imported version? Fit and Finish? My 60 came without the grill bar and teeth, stolen along with the horns. This car sat outside in the trees since 1974, but the potmetal and chrome are in great shape. The fender molding is beat to death. Is it true the reproduction moldings don't fit well? Now that AREBA is out of business, is there anyone that flash/smack chromes the moldings??? Areba did all my moldings on my 65 and they look great. Thanks for your time. DG

Re: 60 Current Chrome Costs/repro. moldings?
Dick:
Over the past year I've had all my chrome done by Paul's in PA www.paulschrome.com. I've got a '58, but I think most the chrome is fairly similar to your '60. The two rear bumpers cost me about $600 each, with good cores and no repairs. The front eyebrows were about $350 per side for the four pieces and, whether to go repro or not, I chose to spend the money to rechrome my original teeth and trim because I tried the repro and the fit just didn't work. It would have taken too much to modify the fiberglass to make it fit. Now, when you don't have any teeth to begin with, that doesn't leave much choice. As for Paul's, they will cost a little more, but their work is near perfect. They even bent a finished piece of cove in their shipping it back to me and took it back no questions asked and repaired it. Lead time is around 6-8 weeks, last time I sent something to them.
good luck, steve- Top

The price for show chrome (copper buffed till right) for the entire car , 58-60,is just under 4K. Concours plating , Phx,AZ.,does a great job and guarantee's their work. Work time is 3-4 weeks. Some increases due come due with poor cores.- Top

Dick, good thing about Paul's is that they guarantee their work. Any problems they will resolve without any hassle. Also, they take photos of your pieces to be rechromed and return them with a quote. Have had several cars worth of chrome at Paul's except for grille teeth and results were excellent. Even on the '57 taillight housings which are very hard to do. Wouldn't use anybody else.
