    60,61,62 fender top spears

Since the AIM's for each of those years specify different fender top spear retainers, I'm trying to research exactly what each is and what the differences in the RETAINERS are.
Do you have a absolutely verifiable unmolested 60,61, or 62 that you can shoot a picture of a fender spear retainer (still on the car) or describe for me i detail exactly what it is? Don't try to take it off--it could take the stud on the retainer with it, and I don't want that to happen.
    Thanks, guys!

You mean the type of "nuts" or fasteners, that secure them?

Exactly--the piece that attaches to the studs under the fender top.

        Mike ,
Attached are some fender spear fasteners (stamped nuts) which are on 62 car #2299.
The car is pretty much a mess, but it retains the majority of the original screws, bolts etc. Although I can't verify the authenticity of the car I thought this info might be helpful to you.
        Please see attached pictures.
I did remove one stamped nut as the fender spears will be taken off the car in the future.

          Bruce--
          Thanks!!!
I believe that those are original for 62---#2964 has never had the spears off and that's what it has, as does #2266 and #3390. Now I'm wondering about mid to late cars--there's nothing in the AIM about a part number change, but I haven't been able to document any late cars.
          Thanks for the input!!!
          PS--is your 62 Almond beige? 2964 is.

My 62 #05815 is a very original car in Almond Beige with a red interior, 340 HP matching numbers. American Torque Thrust wheels with radial tires since I drive the car a lot. Around 68,000 actual miles and I just unpluged the clock last year, no sense having it run 365 days a year.
Might restore it next year as my wife thinks I should paint it.

Mike , 5818 has smaller typical "speed nuts" which I believe might have been replaced at one time before I got the car 18 years ago. Or are finding the small ones on sn 5800+ cars?

                Mike,
Attached are photos of the nuts on my 62 #12644. These are definitely original. The nut is 5/16" with a 1/2" base. Could have gotten a better picture a year ago before I put them back on car, but these photos aren't too bad.

Bill,Those are just like the ones I had on #13787. I wonder when the change was made? I just checked car #399. It has the same ones as #13787. But, car 399 was repainted about 30yrs. ago. so they may not be original to the car, where I believe 13787 were original.
