Starter ID help
I have a 1107641 dated 5L11. Is this even a corvette starter? Looks like I need a 1107320 for my 327 66 roadster?

No, it's not a Corvette starter. In fact, it's not even a starter ever originally used on a Chevrolet. GM #1107641 was used for all 1956 Pontiacs and no other applications I can find. So, this starter was likely manufactured on November 11, 1955 for use on an early 1956 Pontiac.
Of course, all that may remain of the original starter is the frame (the part with the numbers stamped on it) if the starter has been through a commercial rebuilding operation. It may have been used to build-up a starter for numerous other configurations.In Appreciation of John Hinckley -

Good morning everone. This is my first time on the new forum. I need some help if possible. I'm not at home with my books and I need to know the correct starter number for a 1955 265 Corvette. I also need the correct 12 volt generator number (and amperage) if anyone has the time to look them up for me.Comment

I am no solid axle guru but the Michael Antonick Black Book shows a generator number 1102025 no amp rating. It shows two starter numbers. A first design and a second design. 1107627 is first design starter number and 1107645 is the second design. I know that is probably the info you wanted but I hope it helps.

The 1955 Corvette V-8 generator was GM #1102025 as Brett as described. I believe it was a 30 amp unit. This piece was used only for 1955 Corvette V-8 applications and no other application. I would think that a "numbers and configuration-correct" generator would be very difficult to find.In Appreciation of John HinckleyComment
