    Corbin hose clamps

Does anyone have any tips on getting these #*#*&* Corbin hose clamps to seal???

I have new repro hoses and clamps, installed in my 54 last September, and nothing but trouble ever since. Most leaks are from the upper and lower rad hoses.

    Thanks guys.

Make very certain that the inlet and outlet tubes (connections) on the radiator are perfectly round and the rolled sealing beads are good. I have replaced radiators and heater cores for just that very reason. I tried my darndest to round them out, but could not do it good enough on the car with hand tools in order to get a good seal with those clamps.

      Thanks Stewart.

The thermo housing is very clean, and I must ASSume somewhat concentric, but I'm even getting an occasional leak there! I do think that the radiator inlet/outlet is a little eccentric, though. I may be forced into WORM DRIVE clamps. At least until the Regional, when I'll be forced back to these.

I'm wondering if anyone has tried any kind of sealing material?

I have tower clamps on my cars, but I have put a touch of permatex form-a-gasket on the water neck under the hose to ensure sealing. No problems with leaks but it can make the hose a little tough to get back off.

It's worth a shot. Thanks Joel.
