Temp.Sending Unit

I can't find the thread. I did a search, but I still couldn't find it. There was a discussion going about temp sending units and recalibrating them, if needed, with a thermal gun and a variable resistor from either Corvette Central or Radio Shack. I was going past a Radio Shack today and was going from memory, what one of the posters had to say about buying one there. I did buy one, it has 3 posts on it. I can remember where the poster had placed a jumper between 2 of the posts. Which posts did he use? I bought pt. no. 271-265. This is a 25-Ohm Rheostat. It has 3 watts of rated power. Did I buy the correct one? Help!

Why not go with early Chevy used

Well, I have tried that several times. It appears that to get one that works correctly or hasn't been replaced sometime in the past is a hard thing to find.

You could be right but GM made a million early 56 62 Chevy's , cant imagine some one cant get one. I've given away many in the past to friends , Oh well!! good luck to you

I will do a search of a local boneyard and see if I can find any good ones there. The hard part in this area, is finding a yard with something as early as the 80's.

Go on e-bay using the word Chevy not Corvette, that how many Corvette sellers find Corvette parts as I've stated many times.

Wasn't there an article some time ago about these stating that even GM's replacements were not always the correct ohm for the year of guage? Lectric Limited claims to have correct ohm and accurate senders with the right connector post.
