I have been studying the 5th Edition JG for my '62, concerning the fan clutch. On page 75, the early '61 is shown and on page 76, the late '61 and early '62 is shown. I keep studying the pictures, but beside the date code stamped in the back of the early '61 and the ink stamp used on the later '61's and early '62' I can't find any difference. Am I missing something? Also, on page '76 is shown the late '62 clutch, my early '62 (#399) has this style of clutch. I sure realize mine could be a replacement, but I have had the car since '87, which means little if someone changed it. I just happen to think it is "probably" orginial to the car. ALL markings, stampings,("C") etc., on my, clutch are like the later '62 clutch shown. Is it possible, this is correct for my car?

Re: '62 Fan Clutch styles
Dave--
Until a week ago, I'd have said that what you have is incorrect. I've documented MANY 62's, as late as 14,445, with the 61 and "early" 62 fan. Then I ran across a 62, second owner, who bought the car with 9000 miles in 1964, and has kept it original down to the hoses, belt, and clamps. Guess what it has? The "later" 62 clutch--serial number in the late 2000 range. I'd still be a little surprised that on your really early car that the piece is correct, but I wouldn't tell you to take it off and change it for judging.
