1970 wiper motor decal date

Engine was cast and built in February 1970, car was built on March 10, 1970. What would be the ideal date on the wiper motor decal? Mine doesn't have one. Yet.

The two items (engine casting components & WSW motor) have nothing to do with each other... Individual parts were in a 'race' condition all feeding the St. Louis final assy line where they were pulled from inventory without regard to FIFO/LIFO inventory control and issued to cars being built.

Look in your copy of the AIM book. If the part is called out for installation, it's a good bet it was installed at St. Louis and therefore only needs to predate the car's birthday date based on VIN interpolation.

In cases where specific date coding allowance isn't defined (see the Judging Guide + the standard deduction table of the NCRS Judging Reference Manual) the general policy is for dated components to preceed the car's final assy date by 0-6 months.

The label is sold by Paragon.These are very good reproductions. Get the date that pre-dates your car build by a month or two. The labels are Julian dated plus one number for the year.

My B05 Built car has # 5044758 on it and under this is 13 02 A.

Not sure if it's a julian date or???

My 71 has a sticker of 72nd day of 71 and was built around June 1st (so about 150th day), so in my particular example, the wiper motor precedes the car by about 2.5 months. As indicated above, the spread would vary on a car by car basis.

The one problem that I have with Paragon stickers is that they will not make one with a specific date code. I was interested in replacing my sticker as it is fairly worn (but still mostly readable). They basically have a few dates for each model year and buy them in rolls of 4,500 stickers pre-printed, so everyone who buys a sticker from them with cars built for about a four month period will get a sticker reflecting the exact same date of manufacture for the wiper motor.

Anyone have a picture of exactly where on the motor the label is located?
Is it on the motor or the aluminum front section. Thanks, Ken

It is on the cylindrical aluminum /metal section. Here is a pic of mine. As you can see, much of the part number and part of date code is worn off.

I think the full part number should be 5044780 (can mostly just see 5044 on mine)

The date on mine is 72 1 2 (which I think represents 72nd day of 71, 2nd shift (?) and I think there is an A behind that which is very difficult to read.

Also attached is a repro decal that I got from Paragon, which is dated 112th day (even though I asked for one dated same as my original). I was later informed that they could not provide one that way. - well nevermind on that pic, it is unbelievably blury and provides no help. will redo with better camera later
