On a '61, what color Is the Windshield Wiper vacuum cannister supposed to be?

The cannister is black on my 62. As far as the sheen goes my old cannister appears to be semi gloss but a lot happens in 46 years.

I have an NOS one to look at--it is a poor quality gloss black (it looks more like eggshell black). Gloss black with no sheen? Hope that helps
