    Hot tank in so cal

Can anyone recomend a place to get my engine hot tanked (ultrasonic) somewhere in the San Fernando Valley or close by? Time to get the beast going.

I'm not sure if they use ultrasonic, but Barrington Engines 818 442-9409, cleaned, pressure checked and did the machine work on my 63. I have known them for years and am very happy with their work.

I am also a member of the Southern California chapter, feel free to give me a call anytime.

      Harry,
If you really want it "hot tanked" be sure you are clear with whoever says they can do it. I left a block to be hot tanked and when I picked it up, it turns out they only boiled it, which didn't even remove the paint. They said nobody in the area is allowed to actually "hot tank" it. I guess they were hoping I didn't actually know what that meant. Any way...be sure you're on the same page with whoever says they can do it. Some shops use the term loosely. By the way, I live in Mission Viejo, CA., and the shop was in Anahiem, if I remember correctly.

I almost forgot, L&M stripping can strip it the old school way with some acid. They do alot of blocks and metal parts. I have never had a block done, but many other metal parts come out perfectly clean. They are in Van Nuys, I have the number somewhere if you cant find it.

the EPA does not allow "hot tanking" because there no way to get rid of the caustic used in hot tanking. they now "burn" the block clean in a oven.

I was talking to Duke the other day and he said just that, no more caustics used but sugested to find someone that does it the sonic way. Thanks for the reply
