Midyear filler neck....1966

Am placing a new tank on my midyear ('66) and thought I'd ask about the filler neck being painted...satin to semi flat black. I've seen various tanks with the filler neck left natural and some painted. To my knowledge (maybe I've over looked it ) judging book doesn't discuss. Any thoughts out there? Appreciate, as usual, the feedback. Mike #28614

I've never seen one of the filler necks painted. It's possible, I suppose, for the 36-1/2 gallon tanks, but I doubt it.

The filler necks were natural, plated finish. I believe the originals were tin plated steel. I don't know if the reproductions are tin plated or something else.
