Dealer Invoices (1977 and newer) through Allied Vaughn?

On the German corvetteforum.de word spread that a company called Allied Vaughn would handle some doucumentation of the "GM Heritage" and be able to supply Dealer Invoices for 1977 Corvettes and newer (showing options and the original dealer the car was shipped to, among others). Service costs USD 50 for them searching microfiches and providing a scan...

I always thought, that GM only kept info on 1981 and newer cars, and was giving these files to the NCM... Older things were not available.
So this was quite a surprise to me.

Anybody knows them or has experience?

Yes...that's correct! And its correct that GM only kept 81 and newer info, turning this over to the NCM. Allied has been doing this for a few years now. These are the shipper copies and show RPOs and dealer information.

There is a rumor that surfaces every few years that there is more to come but the rumor fails to live up to its promise. So for now all there is is the shipper's copies (dealer invoice) and Corvette manifests for Bowling Green built Corvettes.

I already wrote them a mail, if they could check, if they had something on my car. If so, I will invest to get that piece of history as well...

Somebody in GM "discovered" the shipping records for late 1976 and up St. Louis Corvette production. I believe these are the records that Allied now offers.

Ed, it's not just Corvettes - Allied-Vaughn has dealer wholesale invoices for virtually ALL '77-mid-80's Chevrolet products.

When we were searching for the BUILD SHEETS, with-in GM, in the mid 90s we did find the dealer wholesale invoices that Allied-Vaughn is offering but since they were not what we were looking for, and we didn't think they had the information that was desired, we passed on them.
Yesterday, I e-mailed Chris at Allied-Vaughn to find out exactly what they had and he told me that they have very few Corvette dealer invoices for 77-81 MYs.

I contacted Allied Vaughn on June 12, 2008 via phone and had the invoice for my 81 Vette emailed to me in pdf format by June 17th. The service costs $50 but well worth it. Invoices are available from 1977 for Chevrolets.
