58 -62 Shocks

According to the judging manual the shocks were painted gloss black 58-62 .I have some NOS ones and they are semi gloss like all the other years .Any help would be great

I really don't think that the gloss level of the black paint was too "tightly controlled". More than anything else, I think the gloss level might have changed periodically as different batches or suppliers of paint were used. So, if the shocks you have were manufactured considerably later than the original ones, it may well be that the gloss level changed.

On the other hand, the JG description of "gloss black" could be highly subjective----what is "gloss black" to one, might be "semi-gloss" to another. I wouldn't worry about it.

Also, on original items that are unquestionable gloss black, the gloss black used was not as glossy as what we are used to getting when we use gloss black paint.
