    Soft top tag protector

Does anyone know where you can buy the clear plastic slip on soft top tag protector?

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,
    Craig

Craig, try a billfold picture holder, business card or photo albumn vinyl. Also have seen a piece of pexiglass bent that slips under the rear bottom softtop bow and is angled so that it covers up the tag. Some folks just cover it with a book protector and blue painter's tape that to the softtop. Good luck, Gary....

Brian, I don't have an Ecklers catalog, but would you be so kind as to post the item or part number on here for me to reference? Thanks.

Brian, thanks but we are talking about two different things. I am looking for a soft top instruction tag protector. One that slips over the tag and under the rear portion of the soft top. Thanks anyway.

Sorry for the confusion Craig, I checked and didn't see anything in Ecklers. Good luck.

When I bought my '62 convertible top, the installer offered me 2 top options - 1 with the tag, 1 without. The tag option was more money. Not a lot. But enough. Heck, nothing's too good for my baby. I bought the top with the tag. Felt like Minnie Pearl. Then I washed the car one day, and ruined the tag. Now not only do I have a dorky tag that most people in the day would have taken off when they got the car home, but I've got a ratty one. For which I paid extra.

Hi Craig I posted information on April 15 o8 about a protector for your convertible top tag. If you can not find the info email me and I will give you the information needed. Regards Jim Lucia

                    Craig,
Go to your local office supply store and find the plastic name tag covers that have either the pin on the back or a lavalier (cloth strap and clip) that attaches to it. Take the clear name tag cover (remove pin if necessary), trim it a bit so that it doesn't scratch your plastic window, place it over your tag, double over a piece of painters tape to make a sticky two-sided loop and put it on the back so that it sticks to your vinyl top material between your rear window and that bottom of the rear bow.

Hint, place the plastic cover over your tag so that the open end is facing down and towards the rear of your car. This way the wind won't catch it and it will be protected from rain or car wash water running down your rear window. Be sure that the tape is not on your clear plastic window. The adhesive will warp the plastic.

The other ideas are good also, but I have found that these name tag covers are nice and clear and are made of a heavier guage of plastic.
                    Good luck.
