Hi I got a 66 roadster with code 418 DK Blue interior, my question is the dash flat (no gloss) and all other items semi gloss like the console? What gloss is the radio speaker grille flat or semi? Does anyone have the laquer paint numbers for the gloss and flat in PPG or Dupont or RM? Any help would be great, thanks sincerely Brian

Re: 66 Interior Paint?
Sometimes you can get lucky with AutoColorLibrary.com where for a particular year, they've got more than just the first page of the then current paint catalog on file. The subsequent pages frequently provided the different blend codes used for Corvette vs. Chevy passenger car interior components, what was used where AND the specific degree of gloss that was used.
Unfortunately, I checked and there's nothing beyond page one on file for 1966 or 1967. But, BINGO, we get a 'hit' for 1965 which is pretty darn similar to your car! Note, the call out is primarily for flat (0% gloss) on Chevy passenger car interior paints while the spec calls for slightly more gloss with Corvette interior paints (3%).

Re: 66 Interior Paint?
Brian - The PPG lacquer paint code for 1966 interior dark blue (418 & 419) is: DDL-13241 (Dupont is 9283-LH Flat). I got a perfect match the first time.
The pieces that are the flat interior blue (on a convertible) are:
1. Fiberglass center dash panel.
2. Lower, interior windshield trim.
3. Painted portion of the chrome plated center console.
4. 2 heater duct pieces, one on each side of the center dash panel.
5. Speaker grille.
6. 2 kick panel metal strips.
7. 2 quarter trim panels.
8. The interior side of the leading edge that the quarter trim panels slip behind.
The plastic grab bar handle is dark blue plastic and not painted.

Re: 66 Interior Paint?
Thanks Tim!!! You've been a life saver between this and the bolt finish info you sent me. Two more questions, So your saying the dash is the same gloss as the other parts (I always thought the dash was more flat, but I'm more familiar 67 Camaro's than Corvette's) Also I was told the steering column should be Black correct? (my dad remembers it being painted Dk Blue before he dyed the whole interior black in the late 70's) Thanks again Tim, sincerely Brian- Top

Re: 66 Interior Paint?
Brian - Yes, the dash (the fiberglass structure, not the dash pads) is the same level of gloss as the rest of the dark blue painted interior parts on a convertible. I was lucky in that my interior was original when I started so I had a good basis for comparison.
You're also right about the steering column, it's semi gloss black.
I've got pictures if you need them! Tim- Top
