    C1 wiper arms Pics

Need "correct" wipers for my 61. WHat do you think about these?

Close. These are later over the counter replacements. Notice the CAN 63 on the clip. That's a Canadian patent date so they were definitely made after 1961 and the ends of the blades are missing the plastic tips. The outer pieces should exhibit a stylized TRICO mark. They can be improved on. You have the hardest parts to locate; the center section with the attaching clips instead of the generic replacements that will also accept the hook style arms. Take a look at the article below starting on page 3. They won't be precicely "correct" but "correct" in this case means pretty rare and expensive.

Wow Bernard, great article. I just had my 61 judged with dulled arms with non dotted blades (I think they are a mid year setup). Got 6 of 12 points. Do you think these pictured wipers are worth $90? How many point deduct would I get using these pictured wipers with NO Trico.
      Thanks,
      RON

The wiper blades you show would also suffer some deduction based on configuration issues I described. Additionally, they could suffer based on the date issue. The finish is an improvement over what you described as your current wiper blades. I would anticipate they would get a three or four point deduction. So, is it worth $90 to you to improve your score 2-3 points? I can't make that judgement. However, I have seen "correct" NOS wiper blades that would get no deduction sell on eBay for only about a 20-25% premium over that amount; they just don't come up frequently. Look for 12" Trico blades with the blade style fastener, plastic tips, shiny finish, no patent numbers exposed on the outer segment, with patent numbers, Trico and of course, the famous "dots" on the rubber. You should also be advised, that I'm not the world's most informed expert on wiper blades and hopefully you'll get someone else on the board to confirm (or refute) my assessment.

Plus, on factory original blades there's a early vs. late issue regarding the length of the blade-arm release tab. Those pictured have the 'long' version of the release tab which is thought to be correct for the '61-62 production era.

Earlier blades are essentially identical, but the release tab 'barely' clears the end of the blade-arm bayonet cavity making them 'fingernail breakers'....

Bernard, I'll send you a picture of what I have on the car tomorrow. I second flighted (car wouldn't start - starter soleniod issue I think), so quite a few items in my brain. I haven't gotten my judging sheets back yet. I may be miss quoting the number for the wipers, but, I'll let you know for sure when I get the sheets.
              Regards,
              Ron
