Thanks to all who have helped me over the last several months. Tomorrow my 19 year old son and I head to Chicago to spend the night and on Saturday morning we start at Jackson and Lake Shore Drive to trace the path of old Route 66. I could never have accomplished what I've done without the help of everyone on this TDB.

Through the process I've:

• Selected Pirelli P4000 Super Touring tires on American Racing Torque Thrusts. Thanks to all for size and tire recommendations. They fit perfect and make a world of difference in the ride and handling.
• Installed a Ken Harrison radio with Ipod connection along with kick panel speakers. Thanks to Paul LaTour and his generosity here.
• Received wiring advice that saved me a tremendous amount of time.
• Found a repair process for the original exhaust manifold and had it repaired. It's not the boat anchor I feared.
• Received recommendations on carpet, door panels and seat covers.
• Received diagnostic advice on the cooling system.
• Received advice on how to secure the shaking hood
• and much more

I started on this work early this spring and now have a car ready to travel. A full restoration awaits another day but the opportunity to drive Route 66 with my son who is heading off to college in the fall cannot be missed. Thanks to all who contributed advice, support, counsel and shared a few laughs. I couldn't have done this without you.

I've driven various sections of Rt 66 a couple of times in the early and mid 90's and love the nostalgic and historical aspects of it.

Hope the drive is uneventful mechanically.

The torque Thrusts look great on your '66! Have fun!

What a fabulous adventure you have set out on.

Father and son heading out to explore Route 66 in a Corvette; it just doesn't get any better ! Bravo, to those who embody the Corvette spirit and heritage.
