    67 Big Block Hood - Original/Reproduction?

I'm looking at this hood for a 67. How can I tell if it's an original or a reproduction?

      James...
Before you buy an original hood, check to see that there is a visible (seam) line all the around the edge. If it isn't, someone most likely has trimmed it to fit a car that had hood surround repair. You don't want a hood that won't fit yours.

I would suspect it is "real" due to a variety of factors, but I'd personally buy a repro before I'd buy one with that much poor repair. And, I'd never buy one that has been repaired that poorly near a hinge.

        Just my thoughts....

Patrick, I agree. I wouldn't buy this for my car because of the repairs. I have a reproduction now and was looking for an original hood and needed an education on how to identify one.

            OK.

Your best bet might be to check out Sermersheimer's booth at Carlisle and check out the repros, then look at an original one.

I'm not sure if the "427" mounting holes have been now aligned like the factory did it or not. I know that "has been" one way to tell the difference.

James, I have a friend that has what I believe to be an original GM 67 big block hood he wants to sell. I looks like it has had no major repairs. I live in IL. You can contact me at ccvettes@macomb.com if you have any interest. Jeff Derry
